  • Tabletop Board Game Cafe

    We intended to have dinner at Great Lakes Brewery, but failed to account for it being 6pm on a Saturday. It was more crowded than suited us, and would have been a wait. Fortunately, Great Lakes is in a fairly active neighborhood so we took a short walk and found this chill board game cafe. We were still able to try some new beers, and perform surprisingly poorly at Trivial Pursuit 90s Edition.

  • Lost Peninsula

    I recently learned Michigan has a small exclave in Lake Erie north of Toledo. Well, maybe not an exclave, it isn’t surrounded by Ohio, but it is only accessible from Ohio (or boat). We hoped to grab a meal at the restaurant (since there’s nothing else to do there), but it was closed for the season. We were able to snap a few photos of the state line monument there, before a local rooster encouraged us to move along.

  • Trick or Treaters 2023

    Not the best weather for trick or treating. We had a good 2 to 3 inches of snow earlier in the day, and it was 35°F during trick or treating hours. Even so, twelve hearty souls (and a number of accompanying adults) ventured out. This is the lowest turnout I’ve had since I started keeping track.
