Starting Point for the U.S. Public Land Survey
I enjoy finding survey benchmarks, which made this a high priority stop. We arrived just before sunset, and snapped a few photos, without incident[1], before heading on our way. A little farther up the road we drove past the Beaver Valley Nuclear Generation Station’s cooling towers (which were way closer to the road than I thought they would be) just as they were dumping a bunch of water out, which was cool to see.
Unlike when I went looking for a benchmark on an old railway station that is now a Starbucks and got chased off by a surprisingly angry man. ↩︎
